Hi everybody, I just finished watching the movie Transamerica (which I totally loved, between) and this question came up to me... When a male gets an operation to change sex, is he 100% physically a female after? Will she have periods (can taking hormon do that?), and will she have a clitoris?
If you're going to bash transexuals, please don't even bother answering. I don't need any of that crap. Thank you.

I am glad that you enjoyed the movie and are sincerely curious about transsexuals. Trust me is sucks being one, and we appreciate people like you who would like to know instead of hating for no reason.

After the operation, which not all choose to get, they have a neovagina which is identical to that of a regular womans, often genecologists can't tell. However, the reproductive system is missing, and no periods, no biological children via pregnency, nothing. They are usually orgasmic, but it depends on the surgeon, the patients age and health, and other factors. They also have to dialate to make sure it doesn't collaspe for the rest of their lives, as well as taking hormones until they die.

Hormones don't do all that the other posters said they do, they do promote breast growth and fat distribution in a more female pattern. They don't stop male facial hair, nor change the voice in any way, intensive training or risky surgery is needed for that. If you have any more questions about transsexuals, please feel free to e-mail me since you seem like a kind person. I know alot about them, since I happen to be one.

After a MTF trans gets her operation, she will have a man-made vagina, and in some surgeries a clitoris can be made out of the glans or 'head' of the penis. However, a MTF trans will not have a ueterus or ovaries, so they will not menstruate. Hormones can bring about breast growth, voice changes and bring out more feminine characteristics, but she will not be identical to a biological female.

Unfortunately we don't end up with anything past the vagina. We don't have periods and we can't have kids. The doctors only have the flesh that's already there to work with. If the surgeon does a good job, the results can look and function identical to that of a woman that was born physically female though.

yes, she is 100% female, not all women have constant periods, some skip or don't even have them at all. So that is not an issue when being considered whether or not one is "female". Yes she will have a clitoris.....

infact, when you are being created in the womb, ALL are female it's the hormones, dna, an genes that decides whether or not that clit lenghtens into a penis.....so in essense, all women have penises (really small ones) and all men have clits (really big ones, lol)...

unfortunetly, most of the time for mtf's hormones do not alter the voice for them, they have to train their voices.

no, the inner organs cannot be put into place to function that way. periods are not a part of the transition at all. as far as the female anatomy, thats in the operation and the doctors hands to recreate a clitoris, etc.

After SRS, she now has a functioning vagina and a clitoris that is sensate and orgasm is possible. As far as menstruation, not at all. There is no uterus or ovaries. Hormones will not assist there.
