ok so i just came back from a trip about 200mi and the car sat over night.. then this morning after going to church. i start the car at church and press on the accelerator and the car goes no where, the rpm's dont rev and it stalls.... what could this be? it starts fine, the engine turns over perfectly. its a ford escape 2005 (please keep the ford jokes to a minimum).

o also YES! i have gas! YES! it is in Gear!

also until i went to leave church the car seemed to be running fine. what could it be?

Does it stall when you put it in gear? If so the torque converter is locked up. New cars have a torque converter that is supposed to lock up on the highway increasing the efficiency. Sometimes they just lock up and it needs to be replaced. Good luck.

sounds like the transmition.... check the fluid levels.... when the tranny doesn;t have enough fluid in it, thats what happens,, the engine revs, when in gear, but nothing happens,,

try, putting it in reverse, see if it moves, also try, low gears,,,

finally, if you know the tranny is good, the only other thing it could be is; that there is a cable that shifts your transmission,,, very rare, but it is possible that the pin that holds the cable in place fell out, so when you move your shifter, the transmition lever is not being moved, there by, you get the same results,, engine starts, but car dosen't move..
