the all depends on what you need out of your pc, are you planning on playing games movies, using the net? if u want a high power memory and hard drive space why not get one custom built? its the best way to get the computer you want. good luck, try to stay away from vista for a while, there seems to be a lot of bad talk of the vista confilcting with various programs. Good luck!

Don't buy DELL, Don't buy Packard Bell. Depends on how much you are wanting to spend. If you are going to buy one over the counter I would suggest buying an HP. I don't have one of these as I have an acer laptop which is great. Have had 2 packard bells and they are rubbish. My sister buys all the IT equipment for her the large company she works for and they have to use DELL. Basically you have a 75% chance of getting a decent machine and their support is rubbish. I would suggest you had one built up. I have a local computer shop who would build up a decent machine for £300, bit more for a dual core. You could then specify your own specifcation which will be far better than a Dell machine.

Find a computer builder in your area. Sit down and tell them what you are looking for and what it's use will be. Dell PCs have proprietary parts that can be expensive to replace and difficult to find. Also the minute that you begin to upgrade one of there machines, you will pay through the nose. A local PC shop will give you a face to put behind your machine, and can give you more options than the "Beast".

Basically there is no one single best Desktop PC. However, you could custom make your own one to fit your needs or get a high end system builder to do it for you. If you want it for gaming then go with high end graphics cards. If you want it for a server then get tonnes of hard drive space. Just depends on what your definition of "best" is.

What ever you do, I suggest staying away from Dell. They rip you off and you cant upgrade their computers. Also, have you seen their ads?
"I need a computer for pictures and e-mail".
"Well then you'll need the best processor on the market, and the biggest amount of RAM possible, too!"
"Great! I'll take it!"
Do not trust them.
