Ok, who in your opinion should receive 2 subsidized units that we have available? We have a married couple who has no income. We would house them separately (if they are picked) because the husband often abuses the wife.

Or....should we give the two units to 2 other individuals (a female and male of no relation) who both have no income and have no support whatsoever in the form of family.
Tough dilemma. Please provide reasons for your answers. Thanks everyone. Yes, this is a real situation.

well if it was a sub. units they are not going to have any or much income in the first place so that is neither here nor there. if the married couple does not have 2 seperate vouchers you will not be getting paid for your second unit. but i see drama with police with them being in close proximity anyway so that would be out.

I would go with the other 2 individuals since you make it seem like they are seperate intities. they need places to stay and the county says they are qualified for that assistance.

i would forsee less problems from the last group of people.

The wife in the couples situation would likely be better off in a womans shelter, she needs to get away from the husband, however the problems could stem from their lack of funds and housing, giving them each a unit does not make sense.
You cannot give just one of the couple a unit because in all likelihood the other would soon follow them, therefore I would go with the other two individuals providing they are responsible adults.

The two unrelated individuals should get the units. Why would you give two subsidized units to a married couple? That makes no sense! If they are still married... they get one apartment. If they separate or divorce they can apply as individuals and be considered on their own merits.

The female and male of no relation.

The male in the "married couple" situation doesn't deserve the housing, by virtue of the fact that he abuses his wife. The wife doesn't deserve the housing either, because she's brainless enough to stay with the abusive husband.

I would pick the two single individuals. The husband will emotionally manipulate the wife to let him back into her life, he will end up abusing her at her unit (or at his) and she will end up either having to flee the unit to a battered women's shelter or getting beaten to death (in which case of course he'd end up locked up).

You're better off giving the units to the two unrelated single individuals.

Give it to the unrelated man & woman.

However if the units are not together, giving it to the couple might also be a good idea as the wife obviously needs help.

Good luck with this one.

Give it to the man and woman who are of no relation to one another. The married couple has each other, and has no excuse why they cant both pull together and afford to rent elsewhere.
