you can give your baby water now, even if she only has a couple of sucks from the bottle I have a 8 week old daughter Ive given her water since she was about 3 weeks, some times babies just need a little drink and also help if she gets a lil constipated

You can start now. Babies can have cooled boiled water but no more than 3 fluid ounces a day. They should have it regularly as this helps them to not be constipated and sometimes babies just need a drink not milk. It can also help than go longer between bottles so that they're not feeding so often. You can but flavoured water from places like Boots from when they are 4 months for abit of variety, my son loved them and they weren't full of sweeteners etc...

It's ok to give cooled boiled water from birth, it's a great way of stretching feeds into a good 4 hourly routine.
Also if your wanting to get your baby sleeping through the night offering them water instead of milk gives them less of a reason to wake up, it breaks the habit!!
It's not wise to do the night water thing till 12 weeks as before this they need the extra feeds at night.
Hope that helps.

It isn't necessary to give your newborn water. Most babies get enough fluids from breast milk or infant formula. Even when a mother's milk supply is just coming in during the first few days after delivery, the baby is getting colostrum, which is enough to keep the baby well hydrated. Because a newborn's kidneys are immature, she has a difficult time concentrating her urine, and if given too much plain water, may have trouble excreting it. This could lead to dangerous changes in the concentrations of sodium and potassium in her bloodstream. For these reasons, infants should not be given extra fluids unless their pediatrician recommends it.

All the best

You can give a bottle to a baby any time (although I strongly suggest after the first four weeks) as this can help ease constipation in babies although give them cooled boiled water...not normal tapwater. You can also boil mineral water but be careful because some are quite high in salt content.
If you are breastfeeding then there is no need to give your baby water because breastmilk can quench a babys thirst as well as fill them up but if you use formula milk then its advisable to use water as well

You can start any time. If you bottle feed now, use the same water you use to mix with her formula. If you use only bottled water for your baby and you drink tap water yourself, I would recommend switching it up every now and then. I always used bottled water to make bottles and my pediatrician said that it was important to give the baby tap water, too. It helps build up the baby's immune system.

I have a 2 year old and 3 month old.. my peditrition always told me its not necessary to give your baby water until they are older and/or if you are out in the heat because breastmilk and /or formula already are enough fluids to keep your baby hydrated, and in fact too much water will make your baby full and then not want to drink his or her breastmilk or bottle! So I would say when baby is older or if you are out in the heat for a long period of time! And if you do give the little one water make sure it is boiled then cooled!

a baby can be given water from any age as long as it has been boiled and cooled to room temperature. use fresh water everyday and if it has been stored in the fridge then let it warm to room temperature before giving it to your baby. our bodies are made up of a majority of water so if your baby not getting enough then she could become dehydrated or constipated.

You can give a baby boiled cooled water immediately, this can help if the baby is constipated and baby's can still get thirsty!
