I have a broken light bulb on the outside of my home that is on a sensor. How do I remove the light bulb?

The light bulb is in an outside fixture. I don't know how, but it shattered and now I need to remove the glass and the rest of the bulb so that I can put in a new one.

get a potatoe, cut off a small portion of the end so you have a straight cut. Be sure the light is turned off and then use the potatoe to unscrew the base of the broken bulb. Always be careful, if you feel uncomfortable doing it call some one qualified.

Is it a standard light bulb? Whats broken? A little more detail would be helpful.

Cut the top 1/3 part of a potato off. Use the potato to screw out the broken bulb. Or turn off the electricity and use a needlenose pliers.

If by broken you mean the glass is shattered, turn off the correct circuit breaker and make sure all current is off to that fixture. Take a pair of pliers (needle nose probably) and gently twist at the base of the bulb (metal part).

Make sure to turn off the power to this fixture.
Put a rubber glove on one hand. Grip the edge of the broken bulb at the metal base and unscrew it.

You can wear a glove and unscrew the broken bulb, or, still wearing a glove, jam a potato up aginast the broken glass shards and unscrew the remains.

I've heard you can use a potato to remove a broken lightbulb. I prefer to use pliers, myself.
