What would happen to Congress if they legalized drugs?

Question

What would happen to Congress if they legalized drugs? Heck, what if they JUST legalized cannabis, the biggest cash crop of the U.S.A?

Wouldn't every drug lord on the face of the Earth just:
1) Call all his thugs together,
2) tell them to raid his arsenals dry,
3) then have them converge from all directions, from dozens of independent cartels, onto our lawmakers' houses?

If YOU were a drug lord (the type of person to make killer profits off of a violent black market) wouldn't you do as much to defend that black market?

Didn't something like this nearly happen with the 21st Amendment?

You have a good point. I think that the reason some drugs are still illegal (like green plants that God gave us) is partly fear of what you described and the loss of illegal cash that enters their pockets from the drug runners. They don't care about taxing the drugs and putting the money to governmental use, the care about keeping the cash in their pockets.
