they check pH of blood all the time. the measure medications by concentrations based on weight and time.
MD's may not use a lot of the chemistry they learn as undergrauates everyday, but that is not the point in having pre medical students take chemistry. Chemistry teaches a certain logical thinking style that MD's do use every day, and therin lies the value of their chemistry courses.
