The only way we could use military force to end the violence in Iraq is if we were able to deploy hundreds of thousands more troops to ensure a security lockdown of the more intense regions of the country. Unfortunately we dont have the troops to spare, and if you mention the word "draft" it sends people directly to the fainting couch to think that THEY might be called upon to serve their nation for a war they cheered on from the sidelines.

we really aren't doing anything. it's more of a civil conflict. we just like o patrol neighborhoods and get shot at. if the us pulled out nothing would change, except for other countries moving in. maybe saudie arabia, iran, isreal, syria, kuwai, turkey, but who knows. i think we are ther to try and keep the lid on the pot, so bush isn't known as the president who came in to iraq completley destroyed it and then left it too rot. but to actually think we are fighting towards victory is ridiculus. makes me laugh.
look at lebannon though, they had a civil war from 1971-1990 the us was there only about 2 years. but still peace happend. which to me proves the us is not 100% neccesary for peace.

Some people are just too dense. The hawks in the government just don't know that you can do wonders just talking to people. Diplomacy appears to be a lost art form, and considering the candidates that are being fielded for the next presidential race I think I may be an extinct art form in a couple more years.

We won the war in Iraq when we captured Saddam and he was executed. Now let us get out of there and allow the Sunnis and Shiites to kill each other without any injuries to American troops. The only way we can stop the civil war is to send in 750 thousand to one million troops and occupy every nook and cranny in Iraq. Who wants to do that? Think of the cost! Gads, let's get out of there and let the Arabs have their fun which is what they have been doing for centuries....killing one another.

Our soldiers are like prison guards in a prison where the prisoners have guns--
Our opportunity to overwhelm them with force--has long since passed. Rummy downsized our military---and "we went to war with the army we had, not the one we wanted."
We don't have absolute control of their Oil Infastructure for Bush's Big Oil Buddies---that's the ONLY reason that were not out of there yet.
