A. aluminum hydrogen sulfate

2. or each of the following ions, indicate the total number of protons and electrons in the ion. For positive ions in the list, predict the formula of the simplest compound formed between each positive ion and the oxide ion. For the negative ions in the list, predict the formula of the simplest compound formed between each negative ion and the aluminum ion.

A. S2- number of protons 16 and number of electrons 18

How do i put this in a formula?

1.) hydrogen sulfate = HSO4-
Aluminum has an oxidation state of 3, so it's Al 3+
That gives you Al(HSO4)3

2a.) You're correct on the # of protons and electrons. For the formula with Aluminum, you have Al 3+ and S 2-. You need to balance out the charges, so 2Al is 6+, and 3S is 6-. That gives yo a formula of Al2S3

3.) The key here is to take the analogy from PO4 (phosphate), and use it to figure out the name of the xO4 ions.
A.) PO4 is phosphate, so SbO4 is Antimonate. Magnesium Hydrogen Antimonate.
C. AsO4 would be Arsenate. Sodium Hydrogen Arsenate.
