Pretty woman

and well not exactly richs but how about the movie about Helen Kellers teacher. I think it's called the miracle maker She was born poor, hewr parents died and she & her brother were shipped off to a poorhouse Where he died TB. She finally caught the attention of the poorhouse trustees, was sent to have a series of eye surgeries and go to a school for the blind where she became a teacher & then Helen Kellers mentor opening up whole new worlds to her. Making them a pair of the most incredable women in history. True heroes. She may not have been rich money wise by the time she died but she sure did amazing things that advanced the world for people with disablities. The movie is pretty good the book Helen Kellers teacher is at least 10 times better.

The movie "The Pursuit of Happyness" (the film is spelled incorrectly on purpose) is the best rags to riches movie I have ever seen. It stars Will Smith and I hope he picks up the Oscar for Best Male Performance. Since it is based on a true story, that made it even better. I highly recommend this movie.

Read a biography of Marilyn Monroe and you'll see she's a perfect example of the rag's to riches story: she grew up in the care of many child-homes and guardians, none of which took care of her - i think she was physically assulted in several of them. She had an extremely tough childhood, but just look at her place in history - considered one of the most beautiful women ever!

I recently saw the Pursuit of Happyness and loved it. I read up on the story of the actual guy that went through it Chris Gardner. It's a very inspiring story :)

Definitley "The Pursuit of Happiness". At one time he only has around $27 for him and his son to live on. It is a truely amazing movie and is a real story.

Not sure if you are looking for true life things or movies, but Jewel...she was homeless and living in her car and in bathroom stalls, where she got discovered, and now she is famous and a millionaire. I have to admire her for that.

Rocky
Cinderella Man
Bram Stoker's Dracula - Believe it or not, if you look at it in a certain way it is an overcoming adversity story.
