i have a new laptop and the AIM works on it (which requires internet) but when ever u try to open explorer or firefox it acts like it is goin to open but then stops and says this page cannot be displayed what do i do?

this is a new computer only thing donwloadwed is AIM and microsoft word..
im not on wireless b/c it wuldnt hook up

Try turning off your firewall. If the internet works then, it's some firewall setting. Then you can proceed from there.

The browser may be giving you a time out error. It will only wait so many seconds until it decides that you are not connected. AIM is likely the problem. At any rate, run disk cleanup or download ccleaner and run it. My guess is that your pc is filled with clutter and slowing it down a lot. You might also try de-fragmenting the hard drive, adding RAM, and deleting some unused files and programs.

AIM is that wireless? and if it is go to the 2 moniters symbol on the lower right hand side then right click and repiar. and if its not check the connection or restart the computer

try un-installing and really staling them if that is possible,
if you have internet explorer 7 i would definitely recommend just unistalling it and sticking with the old version, when i downloaded explorer 7 it didn't work and i uninstalled it by going to my control panel and clicking on "add or remove programs"
then find it on the list remove it and stick with the old version.

more details please.

1. are u using modem or network card to connect to internet?
2. did u connect to office network or what?

if using modem, check if u are already register with isp & your phone line is configured properly. then check your dial up setting.

if network. plug in your network cable. then check with your network enggineer that your network card is configure properly.

If you are woring ona wireless network u have to reboot you'r internet connection.
That's what my momdoes.
