No... and yes. If you keep on the same track, you won't succeed. However, failing one assignment doesn't mean you'll fail the class. However, I'd advise you do the assignment and turn it in anway - you may at least get partial credit. And more importantly, talk to your instructor. Tell him/her why you didn't complete it. Honestly. No excuses. Trust me, instructors react a lot better to honesty rather than fake excuses. And as long you are honest about the issue, most instructors will help you get back on track and stay on track. Remember, they are hard-working people too, and their time is just as valuable. But most of them appreciate sincere students and are willing to help you succeed. (And no, I'm not a teacher!) Good luck!

It is highly doubtfull that one assignment will fail you. Although you probably dont want to miss any more assignments and definately no tests. Usually on the college level the assignments count as a lower percentage than test but if you miss more than one or two assignments it lowers your grade. I am in college and had to miss a month of classes due to family sickness last semester and still managed a B so I think you are safe with missing one assignment, go ahead and turn it in though you may get half credit for it or you may not. Read the syllabus for explpanations on missed work.

Well, no you can still manage to get away with a C+ if you do everything else perfectly.

You can speak to the professor and tell him about your circumstances (job, family, etc) and ask for an extension.

As long as you get a D- or over you'll pass.

If you do fail, you can always re-take the class and get the F deleted.

If you don't want an F on your transcript, you can Withdraw from the class, or drop it from your schedual.

Speak to an advisor or the registration department about other options.

Depends on the grading scheme. But turn it in now. Better late than never. Even if they don't accept it, show them that you did the work.
