Absolutely, sir.
And being a father is just an excuse. Pot is hazardous to your health, and might involve your death before you see your son graduate college, middle or grade school, even, depending how long you've smoked. Giving up is hard, I know, but you're son will be your drive. Just imagine how SAD and LONELY and without he'll be without you there to play catch or go to with hard math problems or read his little stories or go to hockey matches or write little scribbles saying "I Luv U Daddy" and say he wants to be just like you when he grows up.
Do you want your kids smoking pot? Hasn't it made your life CRAPPY? Do you want your son's life crappy?
Quit it for him and you, sir.

My Dad started after he became a father!
So did my husband, come to think of it.
I don't think smoking pot is any worse than drinking...
however, MODERATION is absolutely key.
Also remember that you are now the role model of a child and cannot be a hypocrit. Do you want your child to smoke and drink? Your child might then become exposed to the excesses associated with these drugs. How will you handle that?
Using these does make life more complicated in ways, but even if you don't a child may explore them on his own...

I believe you should before because it messes with the sperm structure and can hurt your child.

After you have a kid, you need more energy, time, money.
Children get into to everything also!
and
Children talk, and you could get in a lot of trouble.

In the pre-teen -teen years it could also make your kid make comprimises with other things like crack or stealing etc.

I don't think pot is the worst thing in the world like a lot of people make it out to be.
But your children are more important than it is.

It may not affect them at all,
and then again it might

is it worth the risk?

when you say pot it depends on what you mean...no if you mean pot like weed..weed in my opinion is a stress reliever and i'm not being stupid when i say that its like smokin cigarettes or something else but weed has been known to reduce pain and help deal with stress you can ask a doctor.... a man shouldn't give it up he shouldnt smoke around the children he should maybe go out away from the children and smoke just as long as he isnt around his children to influence them to smoke now if he mixin weed and some otha **** you need to make him stop because then you might have some problems..

Aside from the fact it's illegal and thus he's risking arrest and jail time (time away from his child) I say no, not necessarily. If he stays stoned all the time, then yeah he needs to back off and/or give it up...if he smokes occasionally then there should be no issue, father or not...most people who become parents don't give up drinking just because they are parents...as long as all behaviors are done safely and in moderation, it's all good.

Generally speaking, a man should give up pot to become a father. Do your homework.

Yes. It takes a great deal of responsibilty to be a father. As we all know, weed distracts people and can help them lose focus. Obviously all people react differently to weed, so you might not be as out of it as other people. But, you're raising a child, smoking may not be the best thing. But, if you have to smoke...at least make sure you don't do it around your child.

That depends, really. In my family, the parents usually keep the smoking to theirselves (for obvious reasons; kids will talk), but show their kids what's going on when they think they're ready. But it's an individual judgment call; some kids are different, and might do the unexpected. Still, better to keep it to yourself, or give it up if you think it'll do harm.

How about a man shouldn't even be considering this question in terms of just fatherhood. I have too many friends that have after long term use had so many side effects that have been less than positive in their life and regret it now. In terms of fatherhood then, is that something you really want your child to come into?
