I don't want to break the bank, but I also don't want to shop at a store where gowns are cheap and risk wearing the same dress someone else is wearing. Does that make sense? Nothing over the top, but memorable...since this will be my last prom. Thanks!

I 100% suggest Wedding shops. I went to prom my sophomore year and bought a dress from a department store and someone else had the same dress. So for the next two proms I bought my dresses from wedding shops as bridesmaids dresses and received the greatest compliments because they were totally unique and absolutely gorgeous. Plus, if you buy a floor sample, they will usually give a discount because they need to be steamed, altered and minor repairs need to be done. I bought my prom dress for Junior year at a boutique called Tres Fabu Bridal and I got a discount on the dress and all the alterations because it was a floor sample. The whole shebang, shoes, dress, alterations including a french bustle since it had a train, and steaming was about 175 bucks. I wouldn't reccomend Deb or Mariposa if they were the last places on earth. The dresses are poorly made and look cheap. Wedding shops are classy and sown to the utmost of the seamstress' abitilty. You are also treated extremely well as a customer. Wedding shops all the way. David's Bridal is a wonderful store. If you have to order the dress from them, they don't charge for shipping!!

I would go to a Deb store if you can find one near you. The one closest to me is in a mall. I shopped there for my senior prom dress and no one had the same one. Although I guess it depends on how big your school is too. But I didn't know anyone from my high school who shopped there. The gowns are beautiful and very affordably priced. Good Luck!

Well I know this might sound weird to do but it is what my BFF did.

She had the PRETTIEST dress at the prom. Everyone loved it. When I asked her where she got it she said a consignment store!!! I was shocked I couldnt dream of wearing a dress somone else had worn! but when she told me that it only cost her $70.00 for it and at dillards it had cost $300 I was amazed she said that it had only been worn once and that she took it to the dry cleaner and it was like a brand new dress but it didnt cost near as much as if she had bought it at dillards

I hope my advise helps.

you have to look at 3 or 4 different consignment stores before buying a dress because you want the dress that fitts you the best.

if you cant find a dress at a consignment store then Dillards is good.

um outlet stores are more expensive but many have a system where if some one in your school Has the same dress they Will not sell it to you you could also try vintage some vintage is expensive but not all and you are almost guaranteed no one else will have it.
