I'll answer a question and correct a person's poor spelling and grammar in the process... Sometimes the questions are so poorly written that it's almost impossible to ascertain what they're actually asking. I'm hoping that perhaps if I correct their poor spelling and grammar, they'll take a little more time the next time in asking their question. For example, in your question, "victim" is spelled with an "i" and you're questioning whether or not the answerer would feel like a better person "than" the asker. I can understand some of the grammar mistakes... than/then is a common one, doesn't bother me so much. Confusing their/there/they're is a big one that irritates me. The spelling mistakes are also annoying because there is an automatic spell check built in, it almost requires more effort to make the spelling mistake than to fix it.

I guess I am a spelling basher. It is just that, having been an avid reader since I was 4, spelling mistakes seem to junp out at me! Some questions barely make sense, they are so tortured by mistakes. If only I had used this to be a proofreader or something, I never knew such jobs existed! I don't feel superior, just wonder how all those years of school have not given them even a basic knowledge... a lot of teachers must be wasting their teaching careers....

"If so, do you feel you have exacted your vengeance and are thus a better person than the asker?"

This is the correct way to write this sentence. Use a comma after 'so', change 'vengence' to 'vengeance', add 'are' before 'thus', and change 'then' to 'than'.

"Have you ever been a victem of this, being human I mean?"

In this sentence, change 'victem' to 'victim'.

Hope that answers your question. :D

I never answer a question that way, but I asked one about it earlier today...it bugs me, but for the most part I really don't say anything. People have corrected my spelling and grammar on occasion too...the only real problem I end up having is when I can't understand what someone is saying because of their mistakes. If it's just a few words here and there and I still know what they're saying, I just leave it alone.

I don't. But I usually don't answer questions with terrible spelling throughout. If they can't take the time to spell-check, they're not worth my time. I don't feel I'm a better person than the asker. I'm just really anal about spelling and grammar (I was an English major).

I don't understand why people feel the need to comment about spelling and grammar. If it bothers them they should just not answer!

But I guess we human's who make these errors should feel good about the fact that we are helping to make small minded people feel 'superior' for a while. Their lives must be very sad if they have nothing better to do. We are doing them a service!

I think it's a sign of total negligence, ignorance and mental laziness to not know even ONE language right. I have no problems with non-native writers (I am one, for that matter), but seeing native speakers/writers of English not know "there" from "their" or "they're" or, similarly, "here" from "hear"... pathetic. It's true that it is not a big deal when it'sw one, particularly stupid person - but when it becomes a trend and everyone gets PROUD of their inability to write correctly, it deserves any amount of disrespect. So what if we don't know history, geography, math, music, spelling, grammar... what, then, matters? Downing burgers, beer and fries down your fat butt in front of the TV?

I like doing that when the person asking the question is making themselves out to be of incredible intelligence or trying to make the rest of us feel like idiots. Oh and it's "victim" not "victem" , just thought you'd like to know.

No, it would be unfair. My grammar is horrible! I got excellent spelling but my grammar is just really bad.. If someone spells something wrong or has bad grammar and i can still understand it, forget about bashing and going on a roll. But if it is not so understanding, they can forget about it, i will bash them for that but in a nice way.

sometimes, but only when the spelling is really atrocious. with the added security of spellchecker, bad grammar should be a thing of the past, plus it depends what mood I'm in and what kind of day I've had.

nice memorial for the bloodhound though!
