Excuse me? The percentages of conservatives to liberals in the army leans strongly toward the conservatives.

Most enlisted people are "conservatives".

In the past most liberals ran to Canada.

I have to gripe about your use of abbreviations, i.e. "Cons"; are you too lazy to type? Do you assume everybody is in your clique, uses your particular jargon, and even has an understanding of what you are trying to say?

It's disgusting how people who are trying to become educated still cannot communicate a basic thought.

If you are speaking of convicts: It's unconstitutional to draft prisoners into service, just because they are convicts. Convicts are excluded from volunteering due to recruitment standards. They are just unreliable, and possibly untrainable. If the sh*t hits the fan, some volunteer ex-cons may be permitted to serve, as they are now, if it can be demonstrated that they are not a risk.

Well, I already DID enlist at age 42, so um...I'd say, 'Yes' - since the military is overwhelmingly Republican/Independant...

You Libs seem a bit shy on the whole 'service' thing. You seem a lot more interested in being the ones to tell everyone else what to do. Kinda like you're doing now.

EDIT: PLEASE stop blathering about 'insufficient gear to protect them' - You have NO clue what you are talking about. Believe it or not, an Infantryman weighted down with 100+ pounds of armor in addition to the rest of their combat load is pretty ineffective. You exhaust more easily, you move more slowly, and you are much nosier. In combat, speed and silence are life. The troops have all the gear they need - and a lot they don't. (That M9 pistol is a waste of space and is more useful as a club than as a pistol. Thanks Libs for making us shift to the Europellet standard!)

Cons as in Conservatives or Cons as in Convicts? Many Conservatives are already fighting in Iraq and will jump for the chance to fight Iran. War heroes often get elected to high office. Here in Hawai'i at least one child of a family that gained political fame by gay bashing, this women has served one tour in Iraq and is hoping for more.

Convicts -- -- in Conservative America, probably not ---- Conservatives are big on this idea that Soldiers should be Noble Knights pure in spirit and uncontaminated by 'sin,' anything deemed criminal, especially by Conservatives,
especially drug users and anyone not having heterosexual sex in the missionary position in the dark.

Peace...

Excuse me but are you totally deaf dumb and blind,? 90% of the military personal qualify as conservative! Question if Iran manages to make enough nuclear material to give a bomb either dirty or fully nuclear will the liberals STF up and get behind the War for Survival of our way of life?

I agree with the first answerer. The majority of military personnel are conservative. But if we do go to war, I'm sure you will still be shaking in hatred, hovered above your keyboard, typing out idiotic nonsense for all the world to see.

It's far easier to send other people's kids to war, and then claim to be supporting them despite the lack of a clear objective, no end in sight to the fighting, and insufficient gear to protect them. Why ask oneself the tough questions after all when one can instead recycle the same tired material about how those of us opposed to the war are anti-American, don't care about the troops, and are "45-year old effeminate bed-wetters who live in their parents' basements" (I kid you not- this is one of the recurring themes from one neocon poster), etc. In other words, no, not likely.

Availability for military service should be mandatory. That would act as an incentive for Americans to be less apathetic about politics. If military service were mandatory, we would be out of Iraq by now and Bush would have been impeached.

Conservative make up 56%, Democrats 8%, independents and other the remaining 38%. I'm a vet, but I would certainly serve if they ask me to. How about you ????? Are you willing to fight for your country, or just whine about it?

Did you think the military is made up of only tree huggers?
