Texas is a Right to Work State. If you have family in Texas, fly down, call an agent and you can automatically become a member of SAG/AFTRA. SAG/AFTRA are one union in Texas. The dues are less expensive.

Get a job as a screen actor. When you get your first job, you will get your SAG card.

You can join, but it doesn't mean you'll find work. Hopefully, you'll go to college and study acting. It's a difficult discipline and the competition is huge! If you want it bad enough you can do it. Be prepared to work you butt off and support yourself while you're trying to break in. Good luck! I understand your passion1
