Look at some of the Q&As on this site. It seems to have become fashionable amongst both the liberal elite and the hard right (well represented on here) to sneer at the USA.

There is always a danger in opposing the most powerful nation on earth. There is no up side in being anti-American, it exposes you as being opposed to all the things that make life good. Look at the countries that are most anti-American and ask yourself if you would want to live there. Always remember that which is good for America is good for mankind.

He was just doing what he does best, which is to be an obedient lap dog for George W. Bush. What Blair was saying was that the Americans should shut up and be quiet and allow the Republicans to turn the United States into the Fourth Reich.

I am not anti American but I'm anti Bush in he same way that I'm anti Blair. A lot of anti Americanism is spite and envy and I do not subscribe to that. Both our countries are in the grip of deluded idiots so we are all in the same boat.

America is a big country and has a huge military force and is considered a super power as a result. Countries who have a shady past or who pose a risk, like Iran do expose themselves to attack by being against America because American policy would justify attacking them and wouldn't hesitate.
However, countries who are considered civilised like the UK,Europe Australia etc etc there are far more wouldn't be in danger if they were "anti America" or atleast disagreed with them as attacking them would be an outrage and would result in countries waging joint resistance against America.
The fact is that would never happen anyway as only terrorists and places like Iran need worry about America and it's allies.
Blair was refering to Iran when saying what he said, the news clearly shows America flexing it's muscles by sending military aircraft carriers to the Gulf and readying themselves for .......another war.

The dangers of Anti-Capitalistic Theology, and Politics. If the world WOULDs people compete financially, and if the Worlds people WOULD vote their leaders in, and if the Worlds people WOULD have free thought, we could all live peaceably together.

I'm not Anti-American, I'm anti-freedom of worship. I'm anti freedom to go anywhere in the world my heart strikes a fancy to go.

But mostly, I'm Anti-War and Pro-Salvation. This world is going to end, cease to exist. Where am I going to be when it happens? Am I going to be with Jesus at the right hand of the Father?

I hope so. This is the hope we live for.

If being anti American means not supporting Mr. Bush and his war of choice, then call me anti American. it is too dangerous otherwise for domestic liberty and regional stability in the Middle East.

The dangers of Anti Americanism as Blair sees it is the loss of earnings on the speaking circuit when he is out of office. But they are the new Evil Empire.

What he is saying is ' it's better that I lick Bush bottom than not to'. Basicaly he means he's a better friend than he is an enemy. However I think this is a little niave of Blair, as he's overlooking the fact that Bush thinks nothing to sh*ting on his own doorstep & all over his fellow Americians, so sure fact he'd sh*t all over the UK too. So Blair degrades himself for nothing.
