Well, you're forty-three, that means you're well past the age of a job that involves going in everyday and doing the same thing over and over. I think it's grand you want to go undercover, but lets be clear, it's no out-of-shape person's career. It involves being very sly and sneaky, being able to catch the liar and see the clues. It might also involve quite a little bit of getting around by foot and handling the kids that AREN'T lying about their connections with the law.
If you want my advice, start running, jogging, weightlifting, and GO TO SCHOOL to have this career. But it will have to be nighttime, since you need to keep up your day job. This involves quite a bit of work, which is probably why your friends and family and cops laugh at you. But if you're willing to put in the work, ignore what they say and GO FOR IT!!!!

Geez...you're 43...isn't it about time you became something rather than listening to everybody else and doing nothing. If you want to be detective, go take the schooling you need and do it. There are plenty of jobs working with juveniles. Go talk to a career counselour at a college or university but you better get moving. You arent getting any younger to pursue a career and you are wasting time hating people who obviously feel you need some help to go in some direction.

Follow your heart/passion!, Some of us are late bloomers but that does not mean that you won't do your best work as a late bloomer. You can be anything you want to be; if it is not yet been discovered then it is up to you to discover it. This is called innovation, Take the material that has already been studied, researched, or demonstrated and take it to a new level. People have a tendency to judge others to hide there own short comings. Do your thing, set the example, and invite the nay Sayers to your level of success. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

I think you answered your own question. You are old enough to live your own life and have ideas of your own.
It's fine to listen to others who might have advice or ideas, but ultimately you have to make your own decisions.
You know what you want to do so go do it. If you need training, then get the training. If you need to go to school to learn, then go to school.
Your friends and family may mean well, but you have to make up your mind what you want to do and pursue it with all you have.
Lastly, when someone laughs at you for what you want to do, let that laughter motivated you to work even more diligently towards your goals. I'm sure many successful people today were laughed at when they first started.

why try to make others happy when it is your life to live. You have the right to make mistakes and choices of your own. Dont worry about what others think, do the things that make you happy or you may regrete it later in life you only live once so go for it ,be a detective and prove to every 1 you can do it. Its better to have tried and failed than to have never tried at all-good luck i'll be routing for you

at 43 being a undercover cop for the juveniles.. may be kinds of hard to be.. most of them are in ther 20s and look like there in their teens..you could go for a criminal justice degree and become a probation officer..and work with teens and young adults in that feild .. or go on to work in the juvey hall or something.. go over to the other sites here the one that has to do with law and see if they have any ideas.. or the employment site

yes you should be your own woman, do what you feel comfortable with, not to hurt feelings, but at 43 you might want to do something else in that field, your a little old to be under cover for juveniles, good luck there should be something you can do to help.
