Technically you don't need mce. Girder will control your remote and most aftermarket remotes like the logitech ones come with their own software anyway.
If you use girder and get a decent tv card (happuage)_you can use girder and the tv card remote to do it all.

First you don't need windows media center Xp does fine on its own, just up the ram and buy adobe Premier and add a ATI video capture card, unless your going to use a digital cam corder then buy a firewire that's all ya need, XP was well designed to handle video, but you will have a lot to learn about rendering the different rates and speeds and editing and special effects. So don't bother with the media center it really does nothing for you that I have found, and if you want to do videos then buy a 64bit windows xp system I like AMD because they are cheep and I know them or buy an Intel 64bit processor and you will do even better, however whatever you have it will take up 100% of your processing power to render a movie even if you had a quad 64bit intel if the software even supported it you would still suck up all the processor speed.

Any 32 bit OS nicely be constrained to round 3.2 gb of RAM. sixty 4 bit can pass as a lot as like 16gb or ram i imagine. i do not comprehend if you're able to do a immediately improve from 32 bit to sixty 4 bit (without truly starting up over). per chance some different person is commonplace with. the in effortless words problem with sixty 4 bit is a few classes (extra regularly than not drivers) must be written for 64bit. that is extra regularly than not a difficulty with older classes, that not at all seen being run on sixty 4-bit. once you've older classes, or Hardware the sixty 4-bit XP would no longer artwork. Vista sixty 4 regularly does artwork, because maximum organizations that are doing application for Vista think concerning the sixty 4 bit OS. I absolutely have residing house windows professional 32 bit. and Vista Ultim sixty 4 on an similar gadget. i do not use Vista a lot, yet its going to get further and further.

actually you should look for a tv tuner card with media control remote ( they are easily available in the market ) just remember one thing no matter what tv tuner card you purchase it sshoudl support wenidos media center edition and are capable for it ( many cards dont support media center but can provide you tv tunning capabities with remote)just make sure that the tv tuner brand is providing the xp 64 bit drivers and vista drivers.
so you don't have any problem in future.

i purchased a tv tuner card a year ago
but later i have to shift the OS to xp 64 bit and now to vista

my tv tunner doesnt work with any of them

all you need is a tv tuner card which is capable with media centers and windows vista and comes with a remote control .

make sure you have rams over 512 mb .

no it will run on any pc, but if you want to plug it into a tv you need a tv card. i personally would not advise upgrading to win media. if you are running the proffessional version of xp then you wont be able to connect to a domain.
