The a,s,d,f, and j,k,l,; are the home keys meaning that you keep all the fingers on them except the finger for typing the next letter. When you reach your forefinger to the R key the other fingers should stay on the home keys. I know this in theory fom my highschool typing class, but it is difficult for me to do and I make a lot of typing errors. I have to do a lot of editing of everything I type. Keep working on the typing and try not to look at the keyboard as you type. You should be looking at the line of type as it appears on the page.

You need to keep you fingers on the home keys. That's the row where the A, S, and D are for the left hand and ; L, and K for the right hand. Rest your wrists on the table below the space key and reach you fingers to the other keys as needed. You can get typing programs to help you with learning this. One I have seen is "Mario Teaches Typing. I'm sure there are more to be gotten, I just don't know the many different names. Ask at a local Office store or Walmart to see what they may have available. You will benefit from using a program to teach you how to type. Lots of luck to you!

keep your fingers on the middle letter bar that way you can access your keys correctly. When you just starting out its hard to co ordinater your fingers if you move them from the middle bar. You will find it easier not to move your hands just your fingers. I learnt to type with colours and not letters. Which i found was a lot easier to learn by.
