You don't soak it, but you can take it apart and rinse it in hot water. Years ago, IT professionals did this when people spilled coke or sugary coffee in their keyboards.
Water will not hurt the plastic, solder connections, or other components of a keyboard. But cola products will eat them like acid. Where we have a problem is when liquids mix with an item, such as a keyboard, that is plugged into an electric source. AC or DC doesn't matter, liquid and electricity don't mix well.
If you are really worried, you can still take your keyboard apart, rinse with hot water, then let it dry COMPLETELY for several days, then put it back together.
But, since you can now get a keyboard for $20 instead of well over $100 years ago, why bother? If you are that worried, buy a new keyboard.

I have cleaned keyboards that have had sugary soda pop dumped on them by running hot water over them and through them. I would prefer not to clean it that way. Once clean it has to be thoroughly and completely dried before applying power. I do this by putting the keyboard in the warm sun for at least a day, changing its position so any warm water caught in corners can flow out. It really helps to not have hard water coming from the tap, in which case a gallon of distilled water from the grocery store would be a better idea.

Buy a new one they are so cheap ! - or take off the key tops of with a small screwdriver and give them a wash in some soapy water - clean the base keyboard and re- attatch the keys (They just pop -on) 2 bits of advice tho - dont take of the "Big keys" Ie Space / return etc as these have springs and latches underneath that are hard to re- attatch and take a digi photo of your keyboard before - and have it on your screen to see which key goes where it gets hard to do the : ' : | \ etc...keys !
Hope this helps

NO No No the keyboard is electronic. Water will ruin it. You can try wping it with a damp cloth but do not drip any water down underr the keys. A cloth or paper towel with a little windex or screen cleaner on it would probably be better. If there are crumbs and stuff down under the keys canned air (air concentrated in a can with a thin tube to direct the air flow) like is used to blow out the insider of a computer would work. Do not try to lift out individual keys and clean under them. There is a slight chance that you could put the key back and have it work again but a lot bigger chance that it will never work again. It seemed so logical when I tried to do it. It even woprked the first time. The new key board cost me about $30.

My neighbor spilled coffee on hers and washed it, but I would try Alcohol or buy those wipes that are made for cleaning keyboards. To get the dust out you buy dust cleaner in a can for
computers!

Any thing electrical can be washed if it is dried long enough after. I once had a radio that sat out in the weather for two or three years. seen a lot of rain in that time. Then one day some guys working for me in the hot dry summer picked it up plugged it in and had instant music. Since then I have washed several thing and let them dry for several days and they have always worked.

either pop every little letter off and clean it with a static free cloth or you can just buy some compressed air or co2 to blow some stuff out from underneath it so it depends on how dirty it is

I have put several keyboards with sticky keys in the dishwasher and ran it with no soap. They came out like new. You have to let them dry for two days before using them.
