We already did what we wanted to do. There were no WMD's, so we don't have to worry about that threat. That objective is therefore completed.
Secondly, we took out that brutal dictator Saddam Hussein (even though there are still plenty of evil dictators to go around in the Middle East), so that objective is completed.
It was not until after the capture of Saddam that we started working towards a democratic Iraq. This objective was planned from the start by the Bush administration but it was an adjunct objective which the American people never knew about from the beginning.
We already set up a democratic government. It's not our job to babysit them while they do nothing to help themselves. It's their job now. It's time to get out. The war is already won by the USA.

we won. But if you change the objective to forcing democracy on Iraq and no civil war then we are losing.

Some of you are ignoring a few things. We are not babysitting. The U.S. and apparently the U.K. didn't bother to do enough research about the difference and differences between Sunni and Shiite and the Sunnis and Shiites. Saddam was using his regime to force control over the majority Shiites. The Sunnis and Shiites have hated each other for almost 1400 years. Why?? It's because they disagree who was to be the legitimate and correct successor to the Prophet Muhammad. Since no one bothered to consider this fact, yes, we have released the evil Genie from the bottle and we can never put him back and we are stuck with a terrible mess on our hands. Now that Saddam is gone the Shiites are pissed and want revenge on the Sunnis. Both the Sunnis and Shiites are so fanatical about their beliefs it may be nearly impossible without the support of Imams to overcome these differences. If we just pack up and leave Iraq, Iran will step in and attempt to kill all the Sunnis. Saudi Arabia and other Sunni countries will not let that happen and an even worse war will occur. How do we get out of this mess? I have no idea.

You just don't get it do you!

True we have occomplished alot over there and it's nice to see a liberal give President Bush credit for taking out a brutal dictator like Saddam Hussein.

The war is on terror. WMD was the reason we went into Iraq and based on the intel we had at the time the democrats in congress agreed we should go in. The war on terror is not complete. Therefore, the objective is NOT completed. The battle is located in Iraq. Which in my opion is better than in the streets of New York.

After Saddam was taken out what were we suppost to do? Leave and let Osama bin Laden take over?

The US, England and other allies stayed in Iraq so they could have free elections and set up a democratic government. Having a democratic government is new to them and we are still there so they have time to develop and can run their own country. We don't want someone else coming in and concur them before they get their feet on the ground. We are there to render assistance while they take over more and more responsiblity. To use your term "babysit" them.

Then you throw out a phase like "they do nothing to help themselves". Isn't that why England is pulling out? The Iraq government has developed enough to handle the portition or cities that England was policing? We are helping police Baghdad - larger city, capital, more media attention - the Iraq government still needs our help there. That's why Bush wants to send more troops to Baghdad. Get it under control and turn it over to the Iraq's to manage themselves.

"The war is already won be the USA" guess your either irrogant enough to think we did it on our own without help from England and other allies. Or, you don't want to mention the allies and then you can solely blame Bush if things don't turn out the way YOU want.

We won the war in a couple of days. The Iraqi army folded at the first shot. What is going on now is called " the war on terrorism ". That can't be won because there is no uniformed enemy, there is no territory to capture, there is no central head of the terrorists, there is no one to sign defeat papers.
All that we're trying to do now is to keep the Iraqis from slaughtering each other, while their imams are trying to take Saddam's dictatorial seat. It's a fight for power among the different Iraqi factions. The US is only the scapegoat.

Yeah , I agree with you, we have gotten whet we went in for to rid Saddam and take him and his sons out of office. But, have you ever thought about how Bush and Al Capone love oil. Has it ever crossed your mind where all this oil is going at this time. Bush doesn't want get of Iraq he claims that would be a failure, our troops are paying for his failure to do what he was suppose to do and then leave. But, no he don't care how may troops died and doesn't see the filth and molded conditions of Walter Reed's Hospital that all the thousands of troops are living in most maimed beyond recognition. He states, "We're winning the war in Iraq", he knows we're not and never will because now terrorists have taken over Iraq and you can't win, they keep coming more everyday.
He is a maniac along with Al Capone and will never leave until we file impeachment on Bush, Cheney, Rice and just the whole caboodle and kick them to the curb. I love our troops so much to sit back and watch a warped minded man watching them die and making stupid jokes about Iraq.

you're saying 'shortly after'. ask your self what it became like earlier the invasion began. as well that.... why ought to we wrestle for yet another international places liberation? To my way of wondering, a united states of america must be requested in the journey that they pick liberation first & the definitely invaders who're there to promote liberty ought to pick to launch that united states of america. If our own international places leaders were straightforward interior the naming of the invasion, it would were "operation take down hussein". the reality is interior the planning, my expensive. you want to take a lengthy time period to flick via some previous newspaper's from 2001 - 2003.... This invasion became unplanned..... at the same time as it became time to abort the challenge, because "we had gained", we couldn't depart the mess that were created. The mess became created because the country were left and not using a pacesetter. no one in cost of an entire united states of america... Looting, Gang -Forming, mass forget - i'm no longer conserving that Hussein did an excellent job.... yet, a minimum of, the country became policed. The U.S. would nicely be an excellent-means.... yet we shouldn't get that perplexed with great-hero. The Invasion lacked the plan: 'what to do for administration after the present administration is taken down'.

Uh... okay. If your aims in going to war were: "to destabilise the Levantine region, create a hotbed for terrorism and radical Islam where one had not before existed, start a bloody civil, ethnic, and sectarian war, create a huge refugee problem in the Middle East, kill thousands of US soldiers and hundreds of thousands of civilians, alienate our allies and significantly increase anti-American feeling around the globe" - then, why yes! You've done a great job! God bless America!

I agree completely, and it has to really make you wonder just what exactly is going on. As soon as we captured Sadaam, we should have withdrawn our troops and only kept a limited amount of soldiers there to assist in rebuilding the country. Bush has absolutely no clue what he is doing.
