it is like a car with a stright shift you got your shifter on the left by your foot deppend on what kind of bike it it should be 1 down and 4 up that is 5 gears some have 6 so it would be 1 more up the clutch is on the left side of handle bars start the bike up pull in clutch or put it in nertul that is inbetween 1 and 2 after you do that pull in clutch put in 1st gear soley give it gas and let out on clutch at the same time as you get going shift through the gears remeber to pull in clutch every time you shift gears eather shifting up or down when comming to a complet stop pull clutch all the way hope this helps you have fun rideing

Come clean and tell her you're a clutch virgin and get some instruction first.. trust me! You won't look nearly as dumb as you will after laying the thing down with you under it because the shift got away from you! There is no shame in not knowing about something you've never done before, but proceeding in ignorance and then blowing it because you were too proud to ask is another matter.

when u pull the cluch in u shift gear. clutch is to engage and disengageing your gears and your engine.

pull the clutch change gear, then wnen you give gas slowly let go your cluch lever.

its not embarrasing, every one had to learn, and your friend did too, so just ask him, its impossible to learn without training. every one will stall and its OK
