has anyone here ever written a letter to Steve Wright? I cannot believe the number of sycophantic scribblings he seems to get every sunday morning. "Thanks, Steve, love the show...." Surely he makes those letters up?! ANd how dare he call Sally Bowsman, an educated woman, Sally Traffic, just because that is what she does on his show. With logic such as this, he should call himself Steve Diarrohea. And as for Miles Mendosa, well, just don't get me started on that nerd.

Many years ago when he did the 14:00 - 16:00 on radio 1 he used to be really funny. These days he's a total egomanic. I can't bear to listen to him anymore.

I know what you mean I cannot stand that show either. I cannot make out whether he is being genuine or extracting the urine.
I 'm glad that it's not just me that feels this way. My husband thinks I am a miserable *****.
I think that he insults the intelligence of his listeners and needs relegating to file 13. Bring on Johnny Walker...not the whisky but the man. You just feel that there is a little clich in the BBC these days that can do no wrong. Where have are all the characters gone.
I think that when Sally Traffic is reading out the travel newsshe ought not be drawn into the empty rhetoric that goes on anyway there are genuine people who want to know about accidents and traffic hold uos and not mindless chit chat.
Is that K Dawson....?

He can be quite amusing but as mentioned earlier he(they) do tend to spend a lot of time giggling at their own private jokes on the afternoon show. His biggest foible is that he talks over and just interupts everyone all the time when he wants to say something. Possibly egomaniac is a bit strong but he certainly isn't as good as he used to be.

He is funny sometimes, but I have cringed a bit at the way he speaks to Sally Traffic. She is obviously more intelligent than him, and has much more in the way of politeness although I think you can sometimes hear her swallowing a sharp retort out of sheer professionalism.

I HATE his show. I hate the way he makes fun of people, I hate the way he calls the quiz contestants muppets when he clearly doesn't know the answer himself. I hate his comments on TOTP2 - who is he to pass judgement on people's appearance (have you seen him??!). I also hate the way he reads out the mountains of praise his fans add on to the end of their love-notes to him. On this subject, does anyone listen to Sarah Kennedy on Radio2 before Wogan? If anyone writes to her heaping praise on the show, it is passed off as an SW (could that be Steve Wright??)
So yes, I'm right with you on that one.

Urgh, I agree. I can't stand him. I especially hate the way he reads out letters from listeners, who ask for tunes to be played for a loved one....they'll ask 'can you play such-and-such for my wife' and he just says 'er...NO'. What a tw*t. AND he's totally unfunny and plays rubbish music.
I much prefer Terry Wogan, Ken Bruce, Jeremy Vine and Chris Evans!!!

Used to love his show on Radio 1 (2pm-6pm I think) - but that was many moons ago. Sad to say no longer find him funny, don't know if he has lost his sparkle or I'm just getting old (surely not please God, I'm 34)!
