Maybe cos many of the mid-east countries are dominated by muslims with the exception of Israel which is Jewish?
And if people are fed that muslims are the enemy, then it follows that they'll think Israel is the only U.S. ally.

I think most people distrust other countires in that area. and iran tried to be our ally after 9/11.
and some are saying that Saudi Arabia is suppling weapons to the iraqis who are attacking us- thus the mistrust is spread
