There's nothing wrong with your bike. Every motorcycle needs the choke to start when the engine is cold.

Its normal to have to choke the bike to start with a cold engine. It would also depend on how long the bike has set since it was last running (IE has it had a chance to cool off) and how cold is the outside air temperature. If you're having to choke it to start with a hot engine it could be that the idle curcuit of the carb needs to be set richer or you maybe have an airleak at the carb or manifold.
Those old design kickstart singles sometime take awhile before you learn the starting drill, but, they are definately cool looking bikes. I hope you find the answer to your problem.

Yeah, theres no problem with that. I've only seen one bike that never needed a choke, can't really explain why, but every other bike I've seen does, so no problem. Good luck.
