I have red eared sliders and there's alot of they're shell in the bottom of the tank... is this normal?

Okay.. um.. there's ointment at the pet store... but they wont let us touch them.... so there's my problem.. but yeah i'll call a vet if there's one in today.. and see if i should go buy the ointment or not... but thank you all...

If the turtles entire shell falls off - this is not normal. Your turtle cannot live if it is wearing none of its shell.

Having said that, shedding of single scutes is normal. They normally do this as they grow. You don't have to have the special ointment, unless the new shell underneath looks abnormal.

It can be normal, but if there is excessive shedding it would be wise to go to the vet and get special ointment to rub on the shell.

If the sheds are translucent and paper-thin, and the shell looks and feels normal under the shedding, then there is not really a problem here.

Call a Vet immediately. You WILL get through..and they will apprise yo uof what to do...thanks.
