I dont think people are obsessed with them and Im tired of reading comments on things like you tube that say there are better bands out there! I love afi, I mean I love mcr more, but I love afi! and I think that it seems like people are obsessed with them because they have been around a while and have so many fans!! Who agrees???

I am a dedicated, obsessed, and protective fan of AFI. I will be until the day I die.
Do I think I'm better than others because I've known them before they hit mainstream...nope.
I love this band so much.
I dont think people are obsessed with AFI's longetivity and diehard fans, I just think they are just obsessed with AFI (their music and their existence as a band) period, they have that effect on people.
I still don't get what your saying, but screw what people say, just put on "Cereal Wars" and rock out!!! w00t!!

I was once a very big AFI fan. I loved the snotty sound of their early stuff. Then davey turned into Danzig Jr. (he'll never be as great as Glen) and they started playing piss-poor Danzig shout alongs on speed. Black Sails still had its moments, but they lost me with Art of Drowning.
However, I definately understand the passion of AFI fans (passion describes the fervor better than "obsession"). They have a good fan club that the band keeps up with (i dont know if they still do), and are accessible to the fans.
I have to say that I thought it was hilarious when AFI blew up. Who woulda ever thought that goth boys could be marketed to the youth of America, but then again look at the popularity of the Hair Bands of the 80's. Here today, gone tomorrow.
I know a lot of people that have grown up with AFI and are as passionate today as I was in the Very Proud of Ya era. So i believe that even when this emo/goth/mall punk thing disappears like glam bands did, AFI will be going strong.

I'm quite confused with your question.
But I have to say that AFI fans are known for their deep obssession, loyalty, dedication and love for the band. We've been acknowledged by many magazines as very zealous, crazy fans.

i love afi and its not becuz they have like one millon fans i love them becuz jade and davey are hott lol and becuz they make great music
