How is electricity produced in a chemical/voltaic cell?

Basically its done by connecting different metals together by a wire and an ammeter. Each metal is dipped into a solution of its own salt, and each salt solution is connected by a salt bridge (wet filter paper will do). Electricity is generated by the more reactive metal forcing electrons onto the less reactive metal through the ammeter.
