When parents have a baby, they want their older children to be involved so they don't feel left out of all the excitement. They often worry that their firstborn won't feel as loved once the "competition" for attention arrives. It is quite normal to be extra affectionate with the older children during pregnancy :) You should be happy that she is trying to include you in the experience.

Your Mom wants you to know how much she loves you so that you won't think she might love the new baby more or have to share & be jealous. She's letting you know that you & her have a special relationship & she wants you to start having a special relationship with the new baby.

Part of this is hormones - they are controling her emotions right now. It is temporary in a way & you can reassure her that you know your relationship with her is not going to change & that you will love your new little brother or sister with all you heart. Show her you are excited about it & know that she's going to need you lots to help so ask questions about what you'll be able to do. Tell her you want to learn to change diapers & practice on a doll.

She might lighten up a little if you do.

Keep in mind that a woman's body and mind go through a lot of changes when she's pregnant. She may be trying to reassure you that she still loves you, that she's not trying to replace you with another child, and thus reassure herself that she still has your love. Regardless of how the pregnancy actually goes, it's still a stressful and painful time for her, and having your support can help a lot.

i think your mums being more affectionate towards you to show u that she still loves you and that she wants you to be involved with the baby so u dont feel left out. just take it all in your stride im sure she wont be like it for ever.

LOL, part of it's just hormones running through her system, she's more emotional, the rest is probably because she's trying to make you feel like you're a part of the pregnancy.

It`s normal...I did the same thing with my 11 year old daughter when I was pregnant with her brother!! I know I probably drove her a little nuts at times but she didn`t seem to bothered by it!!

She wants to be sure that you know that your new brother/sister is part of your family, and helping you to bond to them before their birth is a big part of it. Otherwise, it's just another person taking your mom's attention.
