I know the basic method. Let's say if it was 5 / sq. root of 5

I know that you must multiply it by sq. root of 5 / sq. root of 5 so it leaves you with 5 * sq. root of 5 / 5.

What do you do if a number is multiplying the root at the bottom. For example 89 / 5 * sq. root of 89. What do you do, step by step?

Actually, it's not that different from what you already know. You multiply by sqrt of 89/ sqrt of 89. This way the sqrt of 89 at the bottom cancels and at the bottom, you will have 5 * 89= 445. At the top you will have 89* sqrt of 89. see?
