Mcafee/ firewall/eorchestrator/frequent disconnections?

I just installed my schools mcafee program and the program that allows my school to update my virus definitions or whatever but now I keep getting frequent disconnections....I checked the firewall but all the aol slots are checked and when I check internet connections it says firewalled...but I think it's the windows firewall that's being used........what's going on?
