Hi all,
I'm in the progress of a divorce. I have never worked outside of the house. I did not have to support myself and my 6 months old son.
What expenses should I consider in order to be able to support myself and my child without anyone else's help?
Example..I need a car
Expenses: gas, insurance, oil, repair, maintenance ..what else?

Thanks alot!

P.S. I'm asking this questions because my lawyer needs me to list all of the expenses and I don't want to miss any.

1. Car - most important!
a) gasoline
b) insurance
c) maintenance(oil changes, tuneup, tires, brakes, belts, etc. check with local mechanic for a list of things to look for. FYI: Midas does free brake inspections)
2) Rent or house payment
3) Renters or home owners insurance
4) Medical insurance(for yourself and your child)
5) Electricity Bill
6) Natural Gas Bill
7) Phone
8) Water and/or Sewer Bill
9) Cable Television Bill
10) Internet Provider Bill
11) Clothing for you and your child
12) Entertainment(Set aside a little each month for a movie?)
13) Yearly eye exam and dental exam(if not covered under med. insurance)
14) Food
15) Savings(most important - there is always going to be an emergency around the corner - put away something and don't touch it for regular bills!)

Hope this helps.
