Chapman killed Lennon because he thought Lennon was a "sell-out" and a "phony", just like the character Holden Caulfield in "The Catcher In The Rye". This was Mark David Chapman's favorite book.

Mark David Chapman is crazy. He was signing his name as John lennon well before he ever killed the man. He had been talking about it for some time. He said the Devil made him do it and Jesus made him confess. as far as the Catcher in the Rye I read that book 2 times and really could not figure out where the reason for killing John Lennon was in there but than again I could not find a reason for Charles Manson ordering all those killings after listening to Helter Skeltor either so there ya go

Chapman became a nut job that took way too many drugs while he became a teenager! have confidence me,he might've stumbled on his "suggestion"to kill John Lennon from someplace,i will wager that e book became probably the 1st factor he became waiting to get his obese hands on!
