In management today, there is significant emphasis on Human Resource managers and the legal environment in which they must operate. Do you see these legal concerns in operation around where you work? What might you think your managers have done or could do better to support the Human Resource function?

acontradiction is right - that is what the HR function SHOULD be.

The actual HR function is to find ways to work around employment and hiring law to effectively squeeze current and potential employees to maximum output at minimal compensation - effectively to hire people who are and weeding out those that aren't willing to be slaves.

(you don't get hired unless you sign a contract that nullifies your legal protection as an employee and are told another candidate was better as the reason.... then see the same ad in the paper for a job they claimed they just filled as one example - that's ok, there will be someone, less qualified probably, that will sign the contract)

Its not always like that of course, but too often, it is.

The alternative is unionized business. That also has just as many pitfalls but the two forces are SHOULD counterbalance each other and keep everyone honest, yet rarely do.

Humans are ultimately and generally selfish either because they are by nature or are forced to be to compete with the selfish nature of others. Business is run by humans and the same selfishness, forced or natural shows itself.

Human Resources in a Company should be kept at a minimum. Their function would be to do employment background checks, verify employment, and do Company orientation for new hires. Their function is in support of Management and not the subjective determination of employee rights.

I used to attend to an excellent sort of the HR purposes at my enterprise till our GM ultimately employed a committed HR supervisor who became into nicely-versed in all the hard paintings regulations and so on. We were having an excellent sort of themes the place the enterprise became into working in a criminal gray section basically because of the fact no person knew to any extent further valuable. i think of a good HR individual with a good history can keep a truckload of hassle for a medium sized enterprise. the sole element our acceptable managers screwed up on became into to no longer supply her her very own workplace. They caught her interior the reception section, so whilst she's interviewing people and filling out workplace work this is all out interior the open.
