If you don't want to be a teacher, you're not doing any favors to yourself or the kids by sticking with it. You have to follow your passion, it's the only way to succeed. If you sit down and explain to your mom why you want to make this change she'll eventually understand.

I think that you should follow your own dreams, not your mother's. Ask yourself if you will be truly happy as a teacher. If you choose to become a teacher to placate your mother then I think you will regret it for a long time. Sure mom will be upset for awhile, but in the long run you will be much happier doing what YOU want to do, not what your parents want you to do. And then when your parents see that you are happy as a vet assistant then they will be happy for you as well. But then again, are they paying for your education or are you? What if they are paying and they refuse to pay any more when you change your major? Are you prepared to pay your way?

As a mom, I have always tried to support my kids decisions, not make them for them. There are three questions I would ask you if you were mine.....
1.What will make you the happiest?
2.Which will make you more money?
3.If it is vet assit, why not become a vet, instead of just a assistant?
Reach for the stars kiddo!

You grow up and do what you want with your life and let your mom go to college to become an elementary school teacher.

you need to find a job career that you like and are really interested in. there is nothing worse than being in a job you don't like. do you want to be a va because you like animals. do you know what you'll be doing? its not all cute puppies and kittens you know, it can be a very stressful job. you need to really think about it or you will find yourself in a few years trying to start a new career which will be more expensive and more stressful because you will have to work and put yourself thru more school

That is tough, but ultimately it is your life not hers. Just be up front with her, in a kind way, and let her know what you want out of life. Good luck.

Change your major. It is your life, your decision. Your parents will have to just get over it.

You have to do what YOU want to do. Otherwise, you will not be happy with any job you have in the future, which will make you most likely NOT to succeed. So, do what makes YOU happy.
