I connect my iPod to my Dell PC and I go to my computer and open the file but after a few seconds, the damn computer doesn't read my iPod anymore!!! I hoped there is only something wrong with the USB cord because I'm worried that the same thing will happen to future devices I hook up.

PLEASE HELP!

THANX

damn i knew that was a dell thing....can't help ya but i get the same problem connecting my moto razr and my cannon camera to my girlfriend's dell....works for about a min and then looses the connection and need to reboot to get it back.

i never took the time to figure it out but i suspect the dell support might have more than a few threads on that issue...might even be an update for the usb drivers that will clear it up.

Are you running Windows XP or Windows Vista? Apple still has not released an update for iTunes, so you're likely to screw up your iPod plugging it into Vista (I know from experience) so right now, I have to boot to XP to sync my iPod. Other than that, you may try going to your Device Manager, and checking on your USB hardware, right-clicking and trying "Update Driver". For some reason, on some XP systems, you have to manually update it to support USB 2.0. If it's running at 1.1 speeds, that may be your problem.

Try connecting the device using the same USB to a friend's computer. See what happens. Then you'll know what is wrong :))

seems such as you have an older Intel gadget - they prefer to run warm.... Get some canned air, open your case, and blow the airborne dirt and dirt out of it. Pay particular interest to the CPU fan and warmth sink - that's going to be the biggest steel tower looking subject with a fan on it, placing on suitable of the mummy board. If cleansing would not help, it must be that the CPU cooling fan isn't working quickly sufficient - with the conceal off of your case, blow a blow drier, on cool, on the CPU warmth sink and watch to work out if this lowers the temp. finally, besides the fact that distant, that's a threat the bond between the CPU warmth sink and the CPU itself isn't contacting appropriate, inflicting a loss of warmth flow from the CPU to the warmth sink. The fix for this subject is to eliminate the warmth sink, sparkling the contacting warmth sink and CPU surfaces with rubbing alcohol, placed a paper skinny layer of Arctic Silver 5 onto the proper of the CPU and remount the warmth sink. happy troubleshooting!
