If you are just running a smal biz as an individual (not incorporated or a partnership), you file your biz info on a Schedule C. It is a supplemental schedule to your regular 1040 long form. It is very simple to complete, but if you need help w/ it, there is an instruction booklet (& the actual form) on the IRS website (see below).

That depends upon the nature of the business and how it exists from a legal perspective.

If you're a sole proprietor, your business income and expenses are reported on Schedule C or C-EZ as part of your Form 1040 tax return.

If the business is a partnership, you file Form 1065, an informational return and list the shares of taxable income attributable to each partner.

If the business is a corporation, you file a Corporate return on Form 1120.

It depends on whether your business is incorporated, and if so, how it's incorporated. If it isn't, then you include the business income and expenses on schedule C or C-EZ with your 1040. If the business is incorporated, then the business will file a separate return. Some or all of the business income might flow to your personal return depending on the type of incorporation.
