What are the economic and social implications if we take an extra day to relax?

Economic: Businesses may have to pay out more money, but done right this can be minimal.
Socially, people would have more time to relax and to enjoy life.
A five day week is such that it is really hard to keep up with weekend household work and still have time to live a bit.

Nice idea... 2 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off, 2 days on really long weekend off.

I should imagine everyone would be nicer to each other and you could easily work a longer day to make up the hours, so minimal economic benefit, plus would be easier for families.

I think in this day we should all be working 4 days, but unfortunately with the wages, I get I have to work 6 days just to get by ( I work in the NHS) We never get overtime, once we reach 37.5 hours we have to do bank shifts which means a lower rate of pay

My hubby works a 4 day week, his company finds it more economically sound, they work longer hours on the days they work but it makes for better relationships at work as people are less grumpy.
