Its over priced, no games, rubbish online capabilities. £425 are they having a joke. I don't care about blueray so why pay for the privelage. At least with the 360 you can choose and there won't but much in them graphically any way and have brilliant online capabilities with films on their way in HD. Nintendo have created a new idea based on gameplay not graphics. About time. Sony, Youve lost this one

I always try and give a good answer to these questions because alot of fanboys for all systems will just come on and tell you you're an idiot, or give you ridiculous reasons such as "it kicks ***". So here goes.
PS3 is a graphically capable system, but its specs have not been tapped beyond what XBOX360 is capable of and it is hard to develop for. Not giving consumers a choice about the blue-Ray drive (like XBOX 360 did with the HD-DVD add-on) was a mistake partially because it jacked the price by 200$ and partially because Blue-Ray may not become the standard format to replace regular DVDs, that title might go to HD-DVD and 3 years down the road your Blue-Ray could be worth far less.
The system is buggy, some PS1 ans 2 games will not play on some systems, and when it come right down to it all you're paying for if you buy an XBOX 360 or a PS3 is prettier graphics will the same type of gameplay that has been around since 3D games came about.
If developers can tap into the power of PS3 I have no doubt it will rival and even beat 360 in the visuals, but Sony is really banking on the publics general misconceptions and its playstation name to keep it on top, and this time it may not be enough.
Now, a side note on Nintendo and the stigma they live with:
As of January, Wii is outselling PS3 almost 2 to 1. They have ramped up production and will exceed their estimates for units sold, while sony is falling behind. Similarly the DS is outselling the PSP 1.5 to 1 in the US and 3 to 1 in Japan.
Nintendo is an all ages company. Wii is not a system only for kids but you will be told time and time again that it is. Its simply untrue, and if you truly want to enjoy Wii I suggest you judge everything for yourself and forget about the internet. Sony fans tend to be very one-system minded in general and will take any chance to crap on Nintendo as being for kids.
I'll leave you with this. Rockstar has come on board to develop for Wii (the first time is has ever developped for a Nitnendo home console) and is bringing Manhunt 2, one of the goriest series of all time, to the Wii. Now i ask you, would you let your 8 year old play a 17+ game? Does this sound like a kids system? All ages people, and a revolutinary step in gaming on top of that.
Bottom line, wait and see on PS3, but if you don't care about HD graphics i don't see the point.

Flims on the 360 need a £100 HD-DVD drive for it. Blu Ray is £1000 and is much better, yet the best gaming console on the market has it and its £400.
Also, there ARE games for it. True, less than 50, but its been out a month.
Don't get into arguments you haven't researched.

I believe it's an impressive piece of kit, but Sony have overpriced it by a long way, including the games.
They are trying to target adult owners, to use it as an entertainment centre (Blu-ray etc).
Unfortunately, in the UK anyway, most people just won't be able to justify spending that sort of money. Utility bills, energy prices, fuel tax, interest rates and other taxes are now so high that many middle class families do not have a great deal of disposable income.
I think Sony have blown it. Plus, you can't connect an iPod to it.

I have a Wii and way before my idea was to get a PS3. Now that it came out I see it's not worth the price. So I would go for 360 if your looking for great games.

Simon SHUT UP GET OVER IT, I have a PS3 and its way better than the XBOX GAY60. The graphics kick the XBOX GAY60s away and the online capabilities aren't rubbish. You are just jealous and sad that you don't have that type of money...HAHA
