A two year online relationship with five shared weekends. I was building toward a future together. She had been lying the entire time. I said this was not what I wanted in a relationship and we continued with friendship. Our conversations were always interesting, stimulating, witty, and explorative. I miss that very much. One year of friendship and I discover even more lies, totally unnecessary, but seems to be her trademark. Even though I have several close inner-circle kind of friends, nobody has filled that mental spark we had in common. If I could extricate her personal BS... that seems to be a big IF on her part... can I ever maintain this friendship when she seems to have no idea what it means? or should I just give up and find other Einsteins in the sea?

You already know what you want to do. Ditch her. She sounds like a quick thinker who abused her intellectual gift. There are others out there, but this shouldn't be the reason you end it. You should end it because that is what you want to do and what you feel you should do. I think you are just having a hard time leaving the stuff you like. You know what to do.

Sounds like you need more to forgive yourself. And why do you expect others to be something they are not? We all lie and cheat and if we say we don't or aren't we are only fueling our own masochists fires in that we live in negation to the point where we trust others and are always wrong. Of course we are. We need to learn to trust humans to be what they are not what we want them to be. And this forgiveness conduct is another lie where we are making ourselves out to be the hurt ones. We only hurt ourselves in that the trust we have placed in others is really a trust that we will be able to continue the game not a trust that the game will not exist this time.
Then there is the occasional exception to the rule where honestly honest is a value that is kept. Then we don't believe it. Do you think another Einstein is out there?
