Endoparasites must have a way to exist inside their hosts without being digested themselves. They have layers of protection called cuticles on their bodies which prevent them from being digested. They also have a tegument used for the same thing. This is adaptive.

Herbivores eat plants which contain the nutrients they need to survive.
