You should really be asking the medical staff who are taking care of her. If her lungs are not developed enough the only thing she would discover is how it feels to choke to death. And I don't think she'd like it much.

When her lungs are developed enough to breath normally, then you can take her off the machines.

There is a reason why the doctors placed your premature daughter on breathing machines. Obviously her little lungs haven't fully developed, meaning that she is not able to take air in and absorb the oxygen needed to keep her alive. Remember, that when the she was growing inside your uterus, your breathing air and oxygen was carried from your blood and through her umbilical cord. She was directly connected to you and didn't need to breathe on her own. It takes about 32-34 weeks (gestational age) for the lungs to develop. Depending on how many weeks pregnant you were when you gave birth, the doctors will wait until she's reached the 32-34 weeks that she would've been if she still hadn't been born yet. Just wait it out until she's strong and developed enough. The doctors will know when this time will be. So leave the baby on the machine until they say so. Just be patient.

If her lungs are not fully developed yet, then she needs the machines to breathe! Otherwise she could die! When she is able to breathe on her own, they will remove the machines and she can discover life outside the hospital!

Do not take her off the machines until you have the go ahead from tho doctor's. It is heartbreaking to see a small child with all the monitors on her, but the doctors are fighting to give her the best chance at life just like you are.

If she needs the machines to assure she is able to breathe, then leave her on them. Some day she won't need them anymore and will have plenty of time, a whole life time, in fact, to experiance and discover life. You stay strong. For you and your baby. Keep your faith that your baby will be okay! And remember that everything happens for a reason.

You should listen to the doctors. If she did not have to be on the breathing machines, they wouldn't have her hooked onto them, would they?
If you take her off of the machines, the problem might grow worse. She may not live. Would showing her the world off of machines be worth her life?? If you keep her on the machines, she will grow better and get to see an entire lifetime of life without breathing machines.
Do what is best for your daughter. Listen to the doctors and be there for her.

You should let her doctor guide you in your decision and pray... I know ... My son was born with immature lungs and spent nearly two months in the nicu.
It is a hard thing to deal with while you are going through it.
The neonatologists worked their hardest to get my son off the ventilators as soon as it was possible.
You'll have plenty of time to enjoy your child when she is ready. Unplugging her prematurely can actually do more harm to her than you ever intended. It could cause brain damage (from lack of oxygen) or even death.

if her doctors say she needs to be on the machines then you need to leave her on them! you do not want to risk the life of your baby just so she doesnt have wires hooked up to her? you may think that she would be more comfortable but think...not being able to breath probably is less comfortable than being attached to some wires for a really short part of your life that you are not going to remeber anyways!

No, you should not take the machines off yet, until she can breathe on her own! She has plenty of time to discover life. Pray about it and she will come through.

Listen to your doctors..... if they think she is ready to come home then that is wonderful but it will be very daunting for you as it is when you bring any newborn home, for you it just has that added bit of fear of the unknown. If you have serious doubts that she is ready then you need to let the doctors know this but remember that she will need to come home and off the machine one day in the near future!
