As a Disney Cast Member, I would say that the answer to your question lies on a comment that Walt Elias Disney made two years before his death.
"Give the public what they need, keep the place as clean as you can keep it, keep it friendly and it will prove to be that it is a good buisness policy, even after Disney"
Another one of the things he wanted was to keep the magic, to make the park a place to escape reality. He did say in the opening of his park
"To all those who come to this happy place, welcome. For the young to live and think about the future and for the old to remember the past"
The Walt Disney World company consistantly provides training to their cast to teach them how to interact with the guest. If it is about animation as it is, one of the secrets of his success was to have his animators play the role. He had toys like swords and toy guns (just about any toy needed to make a movie) so that they could get a feel of the item that the cartoon was using. For the movie "Pocahantas" the studio had an actual raccoon and a bear on the show. Some of the animators dressed like Indians and played for the first hour of their work. It helps to get a feel of what they were feeling at that time. He was a great man indeed

It could be because he used classical music in the background for all his cartoons.....they are almost subliminal........I didn't notice until I was an adult, and heard a cartoon in the other room of the house. He had Mickey Mouse, who looked like a little rat to start.........and Mickey had a girlfriend, other friends, and people began to love all the characters in Mickey Mouse cartoons, as they collected everything from lunch pails to tee shirts and more of the Mickey Mouse logos. Then, he opened Disney land! He wanted, he said, to have a place where grandparents and grandchildren could play together. He was a grandpa. Once he'd opened Disney Land, it was sheer money coming in, more and more and more.

Disney aslo pattened the"colorization" process for movies and held a 3 year monopoly on it. Other studios paid him to use it. It brought in millions of dollars for the company without any work actually being done at the company, allowing the money for Disneyland.

he had the gift of entertainment. many of the kids back then had nothing to amuse them and he brought the magic and light into their lives. then it expanded and created a more fun way of living. his key to success was bringing joy and happiness.
