I think they make fantastic pets! They are low maintenence, they rarely bite, as it is not in their nature to do so, and they learn very quickly to do things if they realise they will get food for it. They are also very vocal, and come in many colours and breeds. :)

Guinea pigs makes great pets. They can live for quite a while if taken proper care of, Up to 5 years. If you go and get a guinea pig make sure you get a big enough cage. The C & C cages are the best. Guinea pigs will need pellets, fresh water, Timothy hay all the time(not as a treat) and a cup of fresh fruits and veggies a day, along with a big enough cage and bedding, and you can either buy or make your own shelter(pigloo or hiding spot) and chew toys. Guinea pigs also need floor time to explore. You can either get a pigpen or make sure your space where you give them floor time is piggy proofed. DO NOT give those large excercise balls, guinea pigs do not like them and the little slots will get their nails caught in them and cause them harm plus it can cause damage on their spine. It's a waste of money, plus DO NOT get exercise wheels. Those are just as harmful. If taken care of properly, guinea pigs will not smell. Each guinea pig has their own personality and makes very lovable pets. Please read up before adoption and it's best to buy from a pet store because they don't know much about guinea pigs and will end up either getting a sick one or a pregnant one. The best place to get one is either adopt one from a shelter or find another place to adopt on, either in the newspapers or online. You will from time to time need to trim the guinea pigs nails when they become long, Either learn yourself or take to a vet for them to do. And I've included a link about guinea pigs and the second link is about the C&C cages. Good luck and if you decide to get one, Have fun and enjoy your new pet.

Guinea pigs make wonderful pets, by far the best for young owners. The one thing which is VERY important is that they have daily Vit C, this can as fresh fruit and veg or via a prepared guinea pig food.

I'm a 5th grade teacher whos had a ton of different pets in my classroom, and the guinea pig is my favorite. She loves to be held and pet, and when I put her in her exercise ball it's the biggest treat I can give to my students. For the most part, they love crunchy things as treats: carrots, nuts, apple slices. Make sure you keep it clean and well fed. They have a life expectancy of about 6-8 years.

Yes they are good pets. You need to clean there cage out a lot though. As long as you don't have any other pets, you can let them out of the cage to get some exercise.

Yes, my science teacher has PigPigs in her classroom and if you clean the cages regularly and feed and water them good then they can be really fun. They like to eat apples and oranges and they will love you if you take good care of them. You can get those big balls that you can put them in and they can roll around in it for a long time. They will bite though, so you should watch out for the teeth. But they love to be held and pet. You can bathe them by taking a spray bottle and wash cloth and little soft bristled brush that will keep them soft and clean. When you hold them you might want to hold a blanket or some sort of cloth with them wrapped around. They will attack other PigPigs if they want to mate with them, so keep Little Boys and Little Girls away from each other. Unless, of course, you want babies. Hope that helps! I totally think that you should get a PigPig.
