We look down on the moms that keep popping out babies they cant aford and that dont even try to get off of welfare. If I can't aford a child I make sure I don't have one. Welfare is abused and the whole system needs done away with. I am tired of money from my check being taken to put food on other peoples tables when I hardly make enough to put food on my table but don't make so little that I could get help even if I were the kind that would want to use welfare. I take care of myself and I help others when I can as often as I can, I don't need to government forcing me to help others especially when the majority are worthless and never do a thing to help anyone else.

I'm a Conservative and I don't look down on mothers that are in need of public assistance. A great many woman are the victims of spousal abuse, run-a-way dads and dead beat dads. they just need a helping hand so they can get back on their feet again. I contribute both time and money to charities that help mothers and their children and have seen many go from assistance to self sustaining incomes and financial success. But I must say I note a tone of condescension in your use of the term "welfare moms". Perhaps it is you that looks down their nose at those in need of help. What do you do to help? Besides writing snooty little questions? It is liberals that look down their noses with their notion that poor people must always be taken care of. They think "they're not as smart as me so just agree with me and big brother will take care of you. Stay poor and out of MY NEIGHBORHOOD".

I have never "looked down on welfare moms." I am staunchly pro-life, which is why I think we need welfare.
But why do welfare moms get to keep having more children, when I can only afford one?
And where are these fathers?
I look down on a society that thinks it is okay to sleep with whomever you please and then walk away from the consequences. Children need both of their parents, and full-time.

conservatives look down on welfare as a rule and it has nothing to do with abortion! too many people are getting too many handouts from the government instead of getting the incentive to go work for their living. You know this is true!

Let's put it this way: A friend of yours ran into a streak of bad luck and found themselves in a situation and needed your help financially...You gladly help out because WE ALL run into bad times. You help out by giving money for an entire year ~ the very next year the friend runs into the same problem~ needs your help. You agree again...then, a third, fourth and even fifth time, year after year....
Do you continually give and give OR do you say: Look...stop making the same mistakes over and over...I cannot continue to keep helping you...Learn to do for yourself....~ Give this scenario a little thought.

Actually, I think you will find Conservatives are for personal responsibility.
Being a woman or a person who continues to have children and no viable way to support them, and choosing to have an abortion because you decided not to use a condom both fall under the the idea of a "Lack of personal responsibility".
so your argument is moot I am afraid.
BTW there are plenty of libs who are pro-life, just as there are plenty of conservs that are pro-choice. your argument was faulty to begin with.

because the compassion of the anti-choice for babies comes to an abrupt halt once the baby is outside the womb. once the baby is born, the anti choice people are done caring and mom and the baby are then considered welfare moochers if they can't sustain themselves without public assistance. Praise Jesus and load up that camel!

Conservatives don’t comprehend the notion of welfare. Conservatives define welfare recipients as lazy, dim-witted, under educated, single black moms who stay home all day eating junk food and stealing money from hardworking, clever, educated American taxpayers. Virtually all welfare recipients work full time jobs (many work multiple jobs and commute for hours) and use welfare only as an aid to provide for their children. To qualify for welfare, a parent must have children. The purpose of welfare is to provide life’s essentials for poor children—nutrition, school commute, school supplies etc. Investing in human capital, infrastructure and education increases future economic growth. Just imagine what America’s economy and society would be if the lower class entered the middle class and the middle class entered the upper class. America is one big family and we need to do what’s right for the common good. Thomas Jefferson once said, “...arrange themselves under the will of the law, and unite in common efforts for the common good.” What I find utterly appalling is that President Bush, in early 2001, planned to reform welfare and his disgusting proposal advised paying “workfare” welfare recipients less than the minimum wage. Thankfully this unfair and hateful plan was never introduced into legislation.
Call me stupid and insane, but I don’t want to see poor starving children in the streets begging for food. Without welfare there would countless starving children. Can you imagine how violent the streets would be with poor hungry children roaming the neighborhoods for food? Many would turn to gangs for support and money. The GOP weakens gun laws for the NRA therefore the streets have more semi automatic weapons. Less police patrolling the streets due to cuts by the GOP. As a result, the crime rate would balloon beyond belief that scare the **** outta the rich. I don’t mind paying additional taxes for human capital entitlements because it is the best option for America to progress and I’m a common good progressive, which has a long history of providing solutions for America’s worst problems.

we look down on deadbeats who can't function within the workforce. some people deserve the help, our beef is with those milking the system. it becomes a problem because the system is inherently dysfunctional because it alienates people trying to better themselves. the system traps people because the crutch welfare tends to provide becomes a dependency for people. some people can't go out there and work because it disqualifies them from the services they need, the system needs a huge overhaul.

Most Republicans are three paychecks away from being on welfare. They better hope their health and circumstances stay good, or they'll be joining the objects of their derision.
Welfare is an absolute necessity for any modern society, and it's not that the U.S. has too large a social safety net. It has far too small and inadaquate a safety net.
