My girl just now told me that she was having abdominal pain since 2 months ago. She said that she had been to the hospital and the doctor told her that it's common and that it will rupture or gets better on it's own. Im not sure what rupture means in the medical field. So i wonder what might have caused a swollen ovalry. Can anyone help me understand this female part?

A swollen ovary can be caused by over production of the hormone estrogen. It is common. If the doctor isn't concerned, I wouldn't be either. I;m sure your girlfriend is fine.

It's an ovary, and when a woman ovulates it leaves behind a corpus luteum cyst...which will eventually absorb or rupture. This may or may not become a surgical situation. Make sure she sees her physician if the situation persists.

Usually it's a cyst (think of it like a big pimple) that will develop on the ovary. Once it "pops" or ruptures, then her pain will go away. Ovarian cysts are common in females. So this is what is going on. Best of luck to you.
