There is a slightly large hole behind my door because the door knob lock created it. (Yes, the door stopper is broken.) There are also small holes because of nails and tacks that were stuck in the wall several times and then removed.
How do I fix these problems.
Thanks for replies.

For the hole, there are patch kits available at most hardware stores. You'll need a small tub of drywall mud, too. Follow the directions for the patch. Once it has dried, get a strike plate to put on the wall where the knob would hit if there is no, or a "broken" door stop. This will keep the knob from punching a new hole. These striker plates are self-adhesive.

For the nail and tack holes, use some of the drywall mud and a small, damp, sponge. Dip a little mud on the sponge and wipe the mud into the holes. Clean off the residue while it is still wet, and you'll probably not be able to see those holes!

You can buy a patch thing from Menard's or fleet farm. It has metal in it and then put plaster over that. I am sorry it is not very specific but I cannot think of the name of the patch. If you go and ask for it they can show you where it is. You can get different sizes. After you get it patched then paint it and you will never be able to tell. Just make sure you sand it before you paint so that it is smooth like the wall. Hope this helps some.

Use compound (already made) to fix the little holes in the wall.
Also use a speckling knife to put it on. Home depot has a book costing 19.95, that will show you have to fix anything. For the large hole use a drywall the smallest width 1/4 to fix the hole, then use compound to over it.

just use joint compound for the pinholes. spread it on with a drywall knife, let it dry and sand it. the bigger hole would require a blow-out patch. cut the hole out square with a knife. cut a patch out of drywall, to fit the hole, but leave an inch of paper on all four sides of the patch. put it in the hole and mud over it. let it dry and add another coat of mud to feather out the edges. let dry and sant and paint. and fix your door stop!
